Compared by record
Wix, Webflow, Framer, Hostinger and GoDaddy compared with Squarespace on reported problems and price, and an honest look at how much of your site you can take with you.
Framer has the strongest record of these 6 right now, with 1 reported problem and no major outage in the 36 days its record covers. Squarespace sits 2nd, with 7 reported problems in the last 90 days, up 99.98% of the time.

Ranked by uptime (the share of time without a major outage, as each company rates its own problems), then time free of any reported problem, then problems per month, all from each company's own status page. Some companies never rate a problem as major, so read the problems column too. Typical fix is the middle time a post stayed open across its whole record, so a company that posts late looks quicker. A low count can mean few problems or few posts. Prices are the lowest paid plan in US dollars unless marked, checked on each company's own site on 1 Nov 2026. See how Appys checks apps.
People look around because there’s no free plan, only a 14-day trial, and because selling digital content or memberships on Basic costs 7% on top of card fees. But look at the export before you look at anything else.
Squarespace exports one WordPress-format file. It holds your layout pages, one blog, and text and image blocks. Store, portfolio, album and calendar pages stay behind, along with extra blogs, video blocks, drafts and your styling. Products come out in a separate CSV, without their images.
None of the five below imports a Squarespace site. Hostinger’s guide names Squarespace as a site that can’t be moved with its tool, and Webflow says there’s no automated way. So treat this as a rebuild, and let that decide how much the price difference is worth to you. Squarespace’s own record is on its Appys page.
Small businesses that want everything in one place
The free plan has no time limit, but it stays on a Wix address with 500 MB of storage. Light, at $17 a month, adds a custom domain but no payments: those start at Core, $29. Wix says you can't switch templates once a site is created, so choose carefully. Importing Squarespace blog posts isn't possible, and sits on its feature request list.
6 reported problems in the last 90 days, up 99.96% of the time; typically fixed in 1 h 16 min.
Designers who want fine control
Watch the plans here. Basic, at $15 a month billed yearly, has no CMS, so anything with a blog needs Premium at $25, or $39 billed monthly. You get real structure in return: 20,000 CMS items and 40 collections on Premium. CMS content can come in by CSV, but pages are rebuilt, and Webflow notes that Squarespace has no bulk image export.
8 reported problems in the last 90 days, up 98.13% of the time; typically fixed in 2 h 46 min.
Freelancers and small studios
Its own FAQ pitches Basic at students, freelancers and small studios, and Pro at agency and startup teams. Basic caps you at 30 pages and 2 CMS collections, and Pro adds staging and redirects at $30. Each extra editor is $20 a month, which adds up in a team. We've only a short record for Framer so far, so read its row with that in mind.
1 reported problem and no major outage in the 36 days its record covers.
Several small sites on a tight budget
The headline price needs a close read: $2.49 a month is a 48-month term paid upfront, $119.52, and it renews at $10.99. For that you get up to 3 sites, a domain for a year and 2 mailboxes. Selling online needs Unlimited, $3.49 renewing at $16.99. Its AI Website Cloner rebuilds from a web address as a starting point, not an exact copy.
45 reported problems in the 38 days its record covers, up 99.18% of the time; typically fixed in 1 h 8 min.
Getting something live from a prompt
Now sold as Airo AI Builder. The free tier builds previews, and Starter publishes one site with 150 AI credits a month that don't roll over. Its Rebuild my site option takes your address and produces a fresh design, not a copy, and payments, store and integrations don't carry over. Think of it as starting again from a prompt, not moving house.
34 reported problems in the last 90 days, up 99.97% of the time; typically fixed in 1 h 13 min.
Cancelling your site doesn’t cancel a domain registered with Squarespace: it stays in your account and keeps renewing. To take it with you, turn off Domain Lock, ask for the transfer code and allow up to 15 days. A domain registered or moved in the last 60 days can’t be transferred yet, and moving the domain doesn’t cancel your plan.
Keep the old site running until the new one is ready. A cancelled site shows a “Website expired” message and drops out of search results over several weeks. For the wider picture on uptime, see the most reliable website builders and web hosts.
