Ranked by uptime (the share of time without a major outage, as each company rates its own problems), then time free of any reported problem, then problems per month, all from each company's own status page. Some companies never rate a problem as major, so read the problems column too. Typical fix is the middle time a post stayed open across its whole record, so a company that posts late looks quicker. A low count can mean few problems or few posts. Prices are the lowest paid plan in US dollars unless marked, checked on each company's own site on 1 Nov 2026. See how Appys checks apps.

Why people look beyond Klaviyo

Usually it’s the bill. Klaviyo charges by active profiles, meaning every contact you can reach, and if your list outgrows your plan you’re moved up a tier at the next billing cycle. Its help centre describes no setting to turn that off, and moving back down isn’t automatic unless you’ve set up flexible sending. Text messages, WhatsApp and add-ons such as Marketing Analytics are charged on top.

Reliability is the part we can measure. The table above comes from each company’s own status page and changes whenever one of them posts a problem, and the same figures feed the most reliable email marketing platforms. Klaviyo’s full record is on its Appys page.

If you sell through Shopify, check the connection first, because Klaviyo is built around store data. Every alternative here has an official Shopify link except Mailjet, whose own page only offers a connection through Zapier.

Five worth a closer look

MailerLite

Small shops and anyone watching the cost

You pay by subscriber count, and every paid plan gets the full feature set, so a bigger bill only ever means a bigger list or more sending. There's an official Shopify app with abandoned-cart and purchase triggers. MailerLite publishes its own guide to leaving Klaviyo: subscribers come across by CSV, but templates, forms, landing pages and automations have to be rebuilt by hand.

No reported problem in the last 90 days; typically fixed in 3 h 1 min.

ActiveCampaign

Automation first, with sales follow-up

Multi-step automation is on every plan, including the cheapest, and a CRM add-on ties marketing to sales deals. Sends are capped at ten times your contacts on Starter and Plus. Its help-centre migration tool only handles Mailchimp so far, so a move from Klaviyo starts with a CSV, though its marketing page offers free migration of lists, templates and automations. Shopify Plus connections need the Pro plan or above.

10 reported problems in the last 90 days, up 98.27% of the time; typically fixed in 1 h 34 min.

Brevo

Big lists that don't send often

Brevo charges by emails sent, not by contacts, which suits a large list you mail now and then. The free plan stores up to 100,000 contacts but stops at 300 emails a day. A free Klaviyo integration copies contacts and their details across using your API key, but flows and campaigns stay behind. The Brevo logo stays on Free and Starter emails unless you pay $9 a month to remove it.

28 reported problems in the 81 days its record covers, up 99.91% of the time; typically fixed in 1 h 6 min.

GetResponse

Courses and webinars alongside email

Priced by list size with unlimited sends. Webinars, a website builder and a course creator sit on its Creator plan. Starter has one custom automation and no abandoned-cart recovery, which starts on Marketer, so a shop moving from Klaviyo should price the higher plan. Its Klaviyo page offers a custom move by one of its experts, covering contacts, tags, templates and automations, with no price stated.

2 reported problems and no major outage in the last 90 days; typically fixed in 1 h 16 min.

Kit

Newsletter writers and creators

The free plan runs to 10,000 subscribers, but it has no automations or sequences and keeps Kit's branding. Paid plans include free migration: under 10,000 subscribers that's your subscribers, tags and segments, and above that Kit also rebuilds forms, automation emails and templates. An official Shopify app syncs buyers and purchase history.

Its status page last posted a problem in August 2016, so a clean record here tells you little.

Free plan: Up to 10,000 subscribers Paid from $33 a month, billed yearlyVisit Kit

Constant Contact and Mailjet are in the table too, but they’re a looser fit. Constant Contact offers live phone and chat support and one-to-one onboarding on every plan, which suits people who want someone to call, though Lite has a single automation template. Mailjet is aimed at developers, with its email API on the free plan, and automations only arrive on Premium.

Before you leave Klaviyo

Lists and segments export to CSV, including consent details with timestamps, and so does your suppression list. Take that one too, because it’s what stops you emailing people who have already said no. Each template exports as HTML.

Flows are the hard part. Klaviyo’s migration guide gives no way to export them, so note every step before you go and expect to rebuild them. Event history isn’t in the CSV export either: it comes out through the API or SFTP, which may need a developer. Closing an account removes access and leads to permanent deletion, so finish your exports first.
