Compared by record
Seven project tools compared with Asana on reported problems and price per seat, with what each importer actually brings across.
ClickUp has the strongest record of these 8 right now, with no reported problem in the last 90 days. Trello and Teamwork come next. Asana sits 4th, with 9 reported problems and no major outage in the last 90 days.

Ranked by uptime (the share of time without a major outage, as each company rates its own problems), then time free of any reported problem, then problems per month, all from each company's own status page. Some companies never rate a problem as major, so read the problems column too. Typical fix is the middle time a post stayed open across its whole record, so a company that posts late looks quicker. A low count can mean few problems or few posts. Prices are the lowest paid plan in US dollars unless marked, checked on each company's own site on 1 Nov 2026. See how Appys checks apps.
The free plan is the usual trigger. Personal now allows 2 seats per project and team, with list, board and calendar views only, and the older 10-seat version is being phased out. Timeline, custom fields, the workflow builder, forms and AI all need a paid plan.
Then there’s how seats are sold. From 2 to 5 you add one at a time, but after that it’s fives up to 30 and tens up to 100, so a team of 11 pays for 15. Starter is $10.99 a seat billed yearly, or $13.49 billed monthly. Asana’s record is on its Appys page.
Teams that want tasks, docs and chat in one app
The free plan has no cap on members or guests, but only 60 MB of storage, and custom fields, Gantt and timeline come as limited uses that never reset. The official importer brings projects and sections, with completed tasks and attachments as options. It leaves out nested subtasks, tasks shared between projects, recurring and private tasks, and @mentions.
No reported problem in the last 90 days; typically fixed in 5 min.
Boards plus CRM or dev tracking from one company
Free for 2 seats and 3 boards. Paid plans start at 3 users, and timeline, Gantt and calendar views start at Standard, $12 a seat billed yearly. The importer brings boards with names, assignees, notes and due dates, and keeps syncing new Asana tasks while you switch over. Comments, attachments and custom fields aren't on its list, so test one project first.
8 reported problems in the last 90 days, up 99.9% of the time; typically fixed in 51 min.
Small teams doing simple card-based work
The plainest tool here. Free covers up to 10 collaborators and 10 boards per workspace. Calendar, timeline and table views need Premium, $10 a user billed yearly. We found no Asana import on Trello or Atlassian's sites, so a move means starting boards fresh, which is less painful than it sounds if your projects are small.
No reported problem in the last 90 days; typically fixed in 2 h 2 min.
Agencies and anyone billing clients
Built for client work. Basics includes billable time tracking, with a 3-user minimum, and Accelerate adds invoicing from logged time, budgets and retainers at $24.99 with a 5-user minimum. Its importer is among the fullest here: tasks, subtasks, sections, assignees, due dates, descriptions, comments and files. Custom fields, dependencies, recurring tasks and board stages stay behind.
3 reported problems and no major outage in the last 90 days; typically fixed in 1 h 33 min.
Teams whose plans live in documents
Docs, a wiki and databases in one place, with free guests. Its Asana importer is open on any plan and builds linked Projects and Tasks databases, including comments and attachments, but it's a one-time copy of up to about 14,000 tasks, and automations, dependencies and reporting don't come across. It suits light project tracking more than heavy reporting across teams.
26 reported problems in the 63 days its record covers, up 99.79% of the time; typically fixed in 3 h.
Two more in the table suit narrower needs. Smartsheet is a spreadsheet-style grid for teams coming from Excel or Microsoft Project, with no free plan and no Asana import. Todoist is a personal task list more than a project suite: if you only used Asana for your own work, it may be all you need, and Business is $8 a user billed yearly if a small team joins you.
Each project exports from Asana to CSV or JSON. Its help centre doesn’t say whether those files carry comments or attached files, so open one and check before you rely on it. Exporting a whole organisation is an Enterprise+ feature.
Move before your paid plan ends. Dropping to Personal keeps only projects with 2 or fewer members, and timeline, automations and forms go. For how the wider field is doing, see productivity apps on Appys.
